Robin Hood: CBR Review
The first reviews for Robin Hood are being posted, and it looks like this might be the hot new series. CBR was very positive about it, writing "From the sumptuous set design to costumes that instantly ground this 21st century take, Robin Hood never feels less than authentic." They also note the rigorous attention to detail and solid character introductions. Several cast members are recognized for strong performances, including Tom, whose character, it seems, really establishes the foundation of the show.
Forging a myth from the foundry of legend is another element that gives this latest adaptation some backbone. There is a focus on woodland spirits, fireside fables, and religious iconography in those early episodes that cement this series. Front and center in establishing the tone above and beyond Sean Bean is actor Tom Mison, best known for See on Apple TV+. As Hugh Locksley, he embodies all the qualities that come to define his son Robert, and, by extension, Robin Hood. In a small but crucial role, Mison instills fortitude, patience, and a sense of justice into his son, and educates audiences on the importance of Sherwood Forest to Saxon culture.
So it may not be a big role in terms of screen time, but it sounds as if his character's presence will be felt throughout.
Robin Hood premieres on Sunday, November 2nd with the series' first two episodes.
